Orders

We are delighted to offer a book ordering service to all our customers. Due to being a small business, it is not possible at this time to list every book we stock on the website, but orders are accepted for books for both children and grown ups. Simply email hello@wonderlandbookshop.co.uk or call 01777 948580 if you can’t find what you would like. We offer free collection from the shop, and free postage nationwide on book orders above £35. If you are local and wish to purchase a book from the website, please be sure to select “collection” to avoid postage charges. There is no additional postage charge for monthly book subscriptions as this is factored into the subscription price. Please add us to your safe email senders list, or check your junk mail filters. You will receive an email when your book has been dispatched or is ready for collection. If you provide a mobile phone number at checkout, those who have opted for collection will also receive a text message. We will not use your contact number for any other purposes.

Although we urge customers to contact us directly for orders, we understand that sometimes it is easier to browse online. For that reason, we have opened an account with Bookshop Org and our shop front can be visited here: https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/wonderlandbookshop. Please note that Bookshop is a third party website and we are not responsible for orders placed via their website. If you would prefer to order from us directly, please get in touch.

For schools looking for books, we are pleased to offer a standard 20% discount off RRP on school orders. To redeem, we ask that a school purchase order number is provided, or a reference name – orders must come from an official school email address. Schools will then be invoiced upon delivery of the books with 14 day payment terms.

We are also able to cater for special requests, such as book bundles, recommendations, and gift sets. Get in touch to discuss!

Shipping information

We ship via Royal Mail. Tracked 24 and Tracked 48 options are available at checkout. We are happy to ship overseas – please email hello@wonderlandbookshop.co.uk to ask for a postage quote. Books are dispatched Tuesday – Friday. When books are ordered with different publication dates, we will combine your order into one shipment. If you would like to receive your books as they become available, please order books with different publication dates separately. 

If you choose “free collection” in error, or later decide that you would like the book shipped, there will be a £4 charge to pay. Please email hello@wonderlandbookshop.co.uk to arrange.

We occasionally offer personalised, signed pre-orders, thanks to the amazing author support we have been lucky enough to receive. Due to the extra administration involved with these orders, please allow an extra few days beyond the publication day for delivery.

Occasionally, we will use the home delivery service offered by our main wholesaler, Gardners, to fulfil orders to ensure a fast turnaround.

You will receive an automated email when your order is completed and ready for collection, or dispatched. Please add hello@wonderlandbookshop.co.uk to your safe email list. If you have opted to collect and provided a mobile phone number, you will also receive a text message confirmation when your book is ready. Your phone number will not be used for any other purposes.

Shipping to Europe and Northern Ireland

Due to the new GPSR legislation that has come into force on 13/12/2024, it is currently no longer possible for us to send book subscriptions or signed books to Northern Ireland or Europe. We are working on a way to move forward on this. We will continue to fulfil orders for standard editions of books, using the home delivery service offered by our main wholesaler, Gardners.

Cancelling orders

You can “remove” a product at any time from your shopping basket prior to completing the checkout process.

You may normally cancel your order for any reason up to the point of dispatch. If you do cancel the order within this time any payments made by you will be refunded to the payment method used to make the purchase via our payment service provider.

We hope you will be very happy with the product(s) you have ordered. In the event that this is not the case, we will offer you an exchange or refund provided you contact us within 14 working days of receipt of goods. Please note, this does not apply to personalised items such as dedicated books.

If you do cancel your purchase, you must return the unwanted item(s) to us in the condition you received them, with all labels and packaging still attached, and at your own expense.

Please return the unwanted item(s) to us at Wonderland Bookshop, 64 Carolgate, Retford, DN22 6EF. On receipt of the returned goods, the refund will be made to the payment method used to make the purchase via our payment service provider.

When returning an item, we suggest you retain a certificate of posting for your own records, in the event of the product failing to reach us.
